YOUTH BRASS BAND OF THE MUSIC SCHOOL IN JESENIK

The band was founded by Vladimír Vraňovský in 1971. Vladimír Vraňovský was also its artistic leader for over 30 years. From July 2001 to October 2005 František Mech was next artistic leader. Nowadas the band is lead by Tomáš Uhlíř, the second conductor is Milan Domes.

Over the years the number of the members has increased up to 75. The total number of its members during the existence of the orchestra amounts to 300 musicians. The orchestra has staged over 800 compositions and has held over 1000 performances so far. The focal point of the repertoire covers compositions written by contemporary Czech composers whom the band cooperate closely with. The orchestra regularly participate in festivals and competitions not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. Since 1974 it has represented the Music School, the town of Jeseník and the country in Germany, Slovakia, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Norway, Italy, France, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Mexico and Lithuania.

The most important awards are as follows:

  • 1978 Netherlands /Purmerend/ - 1st prize at an international youth brass orchestra competition
  • 1981 Belgium /Neerpelt/ - 1st prize Cum Laude from a European youth brass orchestra competitions
  • 1982 Germany /Rostock/ - 1st prize from a European youth brass orchestra competition
  • 1985 Norway /Hamar/ - the absolute winner at a world brass orchestra competition
  • 1992 Belgium /Izegem/ - 1st prize at a European brass orchestra competition
  • 1998 Germany /Bösel/ - 1st prize at an international youth brass orchestra competition
  • 2000 Czech republic /Kolín/ - golden award and the title of the absolute winner at an international marching competition
  • 2002 Slovakia /Trenčín/ - golden award at an international brass orchestra competition
  • 2002 Polsko (Leszno) – zlaté pásmo a cena Grand prix za absolutní vítězství v mezinárodní soutěži dechových orchestrů
  • 2003,2005 ČR /Ostrava/ - zlaté pásmo z mezinárodní soutěže dechových orchestrů
  • 2004 Czech Republic /Děčín/ - „golden note“ with award at an international brass orchestra competition
  • 2006 Germany /Bösel/ - the total winner at an international festival

In addition the orchestra is the main promoter of the International Festival of Brass Bands held annually at the begging of July.

THE MAJORETTES DANCING GROUP OF THE YOUTH BRASS BAND OF THE MUSIC SCHOOL OF JESENÍK

The dancing group was founded in 1996. The founders, leaders and the authors of choreography were Kateřina Jochcová and Alena Šmerdová. From 2000 to 2007 the group was lead and the choreography was created by Jana Sychrová. From the begging of July 2007 the leader and the choreographer is Ivona Orlová. The group consists of 13 permanent members and a few substitutes. The majorettes have performed over 50 choreographies mostly based on marching compositions of Czech and also foreign authors.

The most important awards are as follows:

  • 1997,1998 – Kolín – the winner at a competition of the most attractive majorette group, and together with the band the winner at a competition of the show performance
  • 1999 - Jeseník- the regional winner of the national competition of majorette groups
  • 2000 – Kolín – golden award at an international competition of majorette groups
  • 2004- Děčín – 3rd prize at an international competition of majorette groups
  • 2006 – Bösel (Germany) – golden award at an international competition of majorette groups
